New Trend De Branding

The branding strategy that brands can do continuously or indefinitely continue to be a highly preferred method of marketing.

A NEW TREND : DE-BRANDING

Debranding is the anonymizing process of brands by deleting their names on the product. Brands prefer to not write their names on their products and/or logos. While this is a risky process, more and more brands are preferring it. But the brands who prefer this are the old and known ones.

The first example of debranding is from Nike... The brand has kept its name in the background and decided to use the 'swoosh' logo. The consumer has started to recognize the brand with this logo and the brand has succeeded the perception management.

Shell and McDonald's have done the same implementation. We assume everybody will recognize theese brands once they see the logos. This proves the success of the brand.

The other brands Coca-Cola and Nutella added names on their products. This suits both the personalization trend and the anonymizing trend. This way the consumer locates the brand at a more personal place.

So why debranding?

The consumer of today does not want to see complex logos or names but he prefers to see a more simple and minimal image. In addition to this, he wants to connect with the brand and does not like corporateness. What do you think?
